Xmas 1981 Rehearsal Douglas Road, Worthing

Toy Factory originally formed in late 1981 at Durrington High School, Worthing, West Sussex from the remnants of two half-arsed bands, The Creeps and The Rotten Bananas. The influence of The Fall, Joy Division, The Cramps, Bauhaus and early Cure echoed greatly in the initial, rudimentary Toy Factory sound.

Spring 1982 Rehearsal Shermanbury Road, Worthing

After encouragement from school teacher Chris Warren and with 6 months rehearsal under their belts, Toy Factory made their debut with a lunch time gig on  Wednesday 7th July 1982 at Durrington High School in The Drama Room.

This was followed by a number of gigs in the autumn of 1982 organised by Tarring High School bands The Electric Side Show and The Knotted Beard, at The Montague Arms Pub in Worthing. These regular Friday night shows became something of a must for local kids interested in live music and underage drinking.
